From Humble Beginnings to a Safety Mission

Anna’s journey in the realm of occupational safety is deeply personal. Her father’s declining hearing, a direct result of the noisy metal shop environment, was the spark that ignited her passion for safety. “I believe in the United States of America, no person should have to die, be seriously injured, or get sick to have to put food on their table and a roof over their head,” she states emphatically.

From Compliance to Excellence

Safety compliance is not a one-size-fits-all approach. There’s a vast difference between merely ticking off boxes on a compliance checklist and creating a safe and healthy work environment. Jolly encourages businesses to move beyond the minimum regulatory requirements to a culture of safety excellence. “Working toward compliance, you’ve got a lot of holes in what you’re trying. You haven’t done enough,” she explains.

The Circle Safety Difference

What sets Circle Safety apart in the marketplace is their dedication to working as part of the client’s circle, helping them solve problems rather than just pointing them out. They focus on a holistic approach, integrating safety into every aspect of the workplace rather than treating it as a separate entity. Anna explains, “Too often, safety is an outlier. You provide a new supervisor. You’ve got all this job over here. Oh, yeah. You got to manage the safety part of the job too. It needs to be integrated into.”

Key Takeaways:

  1. Safety is a Core Value: Safety in the workplace is not just about compliance; it’s a core value that ensures the well-being of employees.
  2. From Compliance to Excellence: Compliance is the bare minimum. To truly ensure a safe workplace, businesses must strive for safety excellence.
  3. Safety is a Circle: Safety should be integrated into every aspect of the business, not treated as a separate entity.
  4. Personalize your Safety Approach: A cookie-cutter approach to safety compliance is not effective. Each workplace has unique hazards that need to be addressed.
  5. Collaboration is Key: Collaboration between safety consultants and businesses can lead to a safer and more productive work environment.

The landscape of occupational safety and health is ever-evolving. Staying updated and adapting accordingly is key to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. Remember, safety is not just about following rules and regulations; it’s about creating a culture that values the well-being of every employee.
